new guitar ordered [May. 18th, 2005|08:51 pm]
Well, I finally made up my mind last night, and today I ordered my guitar. It is a Carvin DC127 with the following standard features: construction/scale - neck through, 25" scale
body - alder
neck - Hardrock Maple, graphite reinforced
neck width - 1.71" wide @ nut, 2.22" wide @ 24th fret
fingerboard - ebony
inlays - standard dot
hardware - Chrome
bridge - FT6 feed through body fixed
frets - 24 medium jumbo .103" wide X .048" tall
pickups - C22N & C22B humbuckers
electronics - master volume and tone, 3-way selector, 2 dual-to-sigle coil switches
tuners - Sperzel™ locking tuners
guitar dimensions - 39.5" long, 12.75" wide body, 1.68" thick body
weight - 7.5 lbs
Here are the options that I chose:
DC127M - DC127 with Tune-O-Matic bridge and string thru body
RB - Rounded Body Sides
ACA - Active Electronics for Fishman Bridge (FA option)
FA - Fishman acoustic bridge (requires ACA option, N/A with Floyd trem)
35 - Replace standard bridge pickup with M22SD
STF - stainless steel frets, med-jumbo .048" tall x .103" wide
TN - Tung Oil finish back of neck
FPH - AAAA Flamed Maple Headstock overlay
FSU - Umber Stain on Flame Maple
CST - Cherry Burst Edge - available with any color
HC11 - Form-fitted ABS plastic hardshell guitar case
Here is a picture of a similar guitar that has the same finish as the one I ordered. Try to visualize this guitar with a black neck, black pickups, and chrome hardware and that is basically what I got.

finished projects [Apr. 25th, 2005|06:12 pm]
well the projects are done.. for ee403W and ee432.. pictured below.. the home control system works great and everything and the other project is a balanced amplifier that is designed to operate at 2.4GHz.. it has a gain of about 14.4dB and matching of about -23dB which is what needed to happen.. sucka..

yup.. [Apr. 15th, 2005|02:37 am]
[mood |accomplished]

So over the past week, I spent at least 3-4 hours per day in lab, working on the senior design project and/or the ballanced amplifier project for ee432. Wed - lab for 7 hours, thurs on campus for 12 hrs straight, in lab for 6.5 hours.. I started the 432 project from scratch and optimized the coupler and then the amplifier circuit and dc bias layout. then i transfered all those dimensions to autocad so the milling machine can cut our pattern out of a microstrip blank. Then it was off to the sr. design lab at 830 where me and one of my partners worked the kinks out of our code. Since most of the stuff is soldered on the board now, we have all the code working great for keypad input, lcd interfacing, lighting control, temperature control, and password manipulation.. all that is left is soldering a couple op-amps, microphone, mosfet, buzzer, and switches before we can finally write the last bit of code to control the security feature.. that is hopefully tomorrow..

project [Apr. 12th, 2005|12:43 am]

this is my senior design project.  it is a microcontroller-based home control system.  main functions: lighting, climate control, and security system.  plan of action: spend at least 3 hours per day in lab until it gets done.
